National Park Service (NPS) has begun installing new Fort Circle Park signs around the neighborhood, a nice upgrade from the long-faded signs. ANC Commissioner Keith Sellars (5A01) has been working with NPS over the past year to beautify the parkland in the neighborhood, focusing on more regular trash pickup, grass cutting, graffiti, and faded signs.
Now we just have to get our paid elected officials–Mayor Bowser, DC Council, and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton–to work with NPS to seriously address the issue of unexploded WWI ordnances in Fort Totten Park. Investigation and clean-up were needed a long time ago. Maybe one day soon they will take it seriously enough and do something about it.
