All construction notices for the second phase of Art Place at Fort Totten, called the Fez at Art Place, can be found at http://fezartplace.com under “Construction Updates.” The link to the latest construction notice, 7/12/2021-7/26/2021, is available here. A reader asked what these notices are saying because it appears that no work is being done. That is a largely correct observation. Some pre-construction work is ongoing. The development team committed to distributing biweekly construction notices, so to the extent the notices have been the same for a while now, it is just confirmation that the state of affairs remains the same.
Who should I contact regarding construction vehicles on residential streets? While the library is being built at least one large truck a week hauling equipment drives down Kennedy street. I thought that was prohibited. They seem to be trying to avoid the traffic at the intersection at Riggs Rd & South Dakota. Just this week, one stopped to hold a utility wire up in the air to avoid snapping it.
If you know for sure the trucks are for the library construction, you can contact Martha Saccocio (the library’s community liaison) at martha.saccocio@dc.gov. In general though, I’d recommend emailing the ANC commissioners as well as Ms. Saccocio because there are multiple projects going on and the trucks could be using Kennedy for any of the projects. Kennedy is the border between ANC 4B & 5A. The commissioner for the 4B side is LaRoya Huff (4B09) and her email is 4B09@anc.dc.gov. The commissioner for the 5A side (which includes the library ) is Damion McDuffie (5A01) and his email is 5A01@anc.dc.gov. A community resident is supposed to be serving as a liaison for the EYA townhome project. I would recommend putting them all on one email.
