About

My name is Uchenna. I have been a Riggs Park resident since 2010. Next Stop . . . Riggs Park is my brainchild, created to inform and engage Riggs Park and surrounding Fort Totten communities about goings-on in the neighborhood and the District. Riggs Park is bordered by Takoma to the north and North Michigan Park to the south.  The neighborhood straddles Wards 4 and 5, and sits less than half a mile from the Fort Totten metro station on the red, yellow, and green lines in Northeast DC. In or close to the neighborhood, one can find:

  • Fort Circle Park/Fort Totten Park
  • UDC-CC (Lamond-Riggs campus)
  • Bertie Backus Urban Food Hub
  • Lamond-Riggs Neighborhood Library
  • Riggs-LaSalle Recreation Center
  • Lamond Recreation Center
  • Food & Friends
  • Mamie D. Lee Community Garden & the Neighborhood Farm Initiative
  • Love & Care Child Development Center
  • Ramdass Pharmacy
  • Shining Stars Pediatric Dentistry
  • Hibiscus Medical

The Department of Employment Services, American Job Center (Backus campus) relocated to 899 North Capitol St. NE in November 2024.

  1. Good evening Uchenna. My name is Terry Lee and I am a resident of Ward 4. I live at the corner of Madison ands Kennedy Streets NE. Thanks for creating this informational source. I think it’s great! I’m a volunteer at the UDC/Backus Urban Food Hub. They have an event coming up in early September that requires as many local volunteers as possible. Can you tell me how we can post the information to your site? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

  2. This is such a great resource, thank you so much for this information! I love knowing what development projects are underway in the neighborhood but often find it difficult to get up to date status information. Thank you again.

  3. Hello Uchenna! I don’t know if you can see this message, but I just want to make sure you know how much my neighbors and I appreciate your commitment to this website! I check it in a weekly basis for updates in our community. Thank you!!!
